InnovationNovadry Concept , an innovation which increases breathability by 30 % of the hiking boot , while keeping their waterproof properties.
A membrane is a very thin polymer film (polyurethane, polyester or PTFE) (approx. 5 to 25 micrometres) that is applied
to the internal surface of a textile to provide it with a high capacity in term of waterproofing and breathability.
The
combination of a membrane and one (or more) textiles is called waterproof and breathable complex.
This is the combination of a microporous membrane (or coating) with a water repellent textile. A microporous complex is most
often waterproof and breathable.
The membrane (or coating) is cracked by stretching to create micropores.
This technology,
used by GORE-TEX, acts as a barrier against water. The micropores are too small to let water molecules through but are large
enough to allow water vapour to pass under the influence of a pressure difference between the ambient environments that it
separates.
Combination of several layers.
